OmniOculus Digital Video Surveillance

Designed from the ground up with true multi-site video surveillance in mind, the OmniOculus system provides the essential features needed for enterprise wide deployment. The unique, scalable architecture leverages an organization’s existing investment in technology and network infrastructure and provides complete secure access to the system from any authorized device capable of accessing the Internet.

Built on top of a Unix based operating system, the OmniOculus system is not affected with numerous problems which plague Windows© based offerings.

DTS makes use of the best and most reliable open-source software available. The use of open-source software allows DTS to provide a level of versatility and stability not available in any other development environment.

OmniOculus is not a one-size-fits-all solution. At the core of all deployments is an intensely interactive consulting process that allows DTS to provide a fully customized solution with complete quality control of the deployment throughout the project lifecycle.

Unlimited Scalability

The unique design of the OmniOculus system allows for the seamless integration across multiple sites. The OmniOculus system scales to literally thousands of cameras, hundreds of sites and terabytes of storage. Even in an extremely large enterprise installation, the end-user will have complete access to the entire system through a single interface. The background processing is completely transparent and seamless.

Additional cameras can be added at any time to any site and existing cameras may be moved within a site or to another location.

Single Interface

The customization package included with every system allows DTS to integrate cameras and sites so that all cameras and sites can be accessed from a single web-based interface.

Using the standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol, this singular interface is protected from those with curious or malicious intent.

This web-based interface is then securely accessible to any Internet connected device – PDA, laptop, cell phone – as long as the user has the proper login credentials.

Using wireless Ethernet and a laptop, a user could rove about a monitored site and still be able to fully monitor either that or any other connected site.

Image Storage and Authentication

Live video is streamed at up to 30 frames per second. Recorded video is stored at a configurable rate of a few frames per second to several frames per minute. This time-lapse recording allows for greater archival periods and is fully configurable on camera by camera basis

For ease of access and portability across platforms, the OmniOculus stores all images in the JPEG file format. This allows the end-user to save, print or e-mail images directly from the system’s interface.

All images stored on the OmniOculus system are stamped with an MD5 thumbprint. This thumbprint is stored in a secure location on the system and can easily be retrieved to authenticate an image.

Standard Network Protocols

OmniOculus utilizes TCP/IP, the Internet standard network protocol. Any device connected to the Local Area Network (LAN) can access the system. Communication with the system is automatically routed across any existing network infrastructure. The system can be accessed off-site via the Internet through a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) session.

All cameras and servers are connected via Ethernet. No separate cable plant is required. DTS employs a mid-span power-over-Ethernet solution that eliminates the need for additional power outlets in awkward locations. Moves, additions and changes are greatly simplified. Cameras can be connected to any network port almost anywhere.

Map View

The key differentiating factor provided by the OmniOculus system is the unique Map View which allows users, unfamiliar with camera location and view area, to quickly locate the desired camera. The Map View helps users to visually place image data in the proper context. However, if the camera ID is already known, the map view is easily bypassed for simple access to live camera images. In an Enterprise wide scenario, the hierarchical map view allows seamless access regardless of the number of cameras and sites.

100% Digital

Images are digital from the camera and never have to be converted from analog to digital allowing for optimal image quality.

Cameras operate using a high-level operating system and have distributed intelligence. This provides the opportunity for a wide range of customized applications, including the addition of alarm triggers such as motion detection, trip switches, and heat sensors.
